TUCO-Yoakum-Hobbs 345 kV Transmission Line

The Tuco-Yoakum-Hobbs 345 kV transmission line project was completed in May 2020 in Texas and New Mexico.

The projects provide a significant source of bulk power transfer capacity from the transmission hub at Tuco substation to the southwest portion of the SPS transmission system in west Texas and eastern New Mexico.  This project will also provide additional stability and reliability to the south and western parts of the SPS system.

The Texas Public Utility Commission and the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission granted Certificates of Convenience and Necessity (CCNs) for the portions of the Tuco-Yoakum-Hobbs line located in the respective states before construction started. The CCN process determines the project need and impact as well as the line characteristics, such as substations and endpoints, and the line route.
