Roadrunner-Custer Mountain 115 kV Transmission Line Project

The Xcel Energy Roadrunner-Custer Mountain 115 kV transmission line project consists of about 10 miles of new 115 kV transmission line between the Roadrunner Substation about 20 miles northwest of Jal, New Mexico and the Custer Mountain Switching Station located approximately ten miles northwest of Jal.

The project will increase electric reliability and create capacity for load growth in the area.

On January 12, 2016 the Southwest Power Pool approved a Notice to Construct the project.

The Roadrunner-Custer 115 kV transmission project was placed in-service in May 2018. The estimated cost of the project is $5M.
