NEF-Cardinal 115 kV Transmission Line Project

The NEF-Cardinal 115 kV transmission line project was placed in-service in March 2019. The project consists of approximately seven miles of new transmission line between the NEF Substation located about five miles east of Eunice, New Mexico to the new Cardinal Substation located about two miles southwest of Eunice.

The project will improve reliability and meet growing electricity demand in Eddy and Lea Counties. It will also create additional capacity in the existing 115 kV system.

The Southwest Power Pool approved a Notice to Construct for the project in December, 2015.
