Canyon West-Dawn-Panda-Deaf Smith 115 kV Transmission Line Project

The Canyon West-Dawn-Panda-Deaf Smith 115 kV transmission line project consists of approximately 27 miles of transmission line being rebuilt and upgraded between the existing Canyon West, Dawn and Panda Substations and the existing Deaf Smith Interchange.

The transmission line runs between the Canyon West Substation, in Canyon, Texas to Dawn Substation near Dawn, Texas and on to Panda Substation about five mile northeast of Hereford, Texas to Deaf Smith Interchange in Hereford.

The upgraded 115 kV transmission line increases electric capacity improving overall network reliability.

Southwest Power Pool approved a Notice to Construct for the project on February 18, 2015. The project was placed in-service on November 1, 2018.
