Wheeler to Coburn Creek 115 kV Transmission Line

The Wheeler-Coburn Creek 115 kilovolt (kV) transmission line was placed in-service on March 15, 2017. The project includes the construction of a 11 mile 115 kV transmission line between the existing Wheeler Substation, located about five miles southeast of Wheeler, and construction of the Coburn Creek Substation, located along State Highway 152, approximately eight miles east of Wheeler.

The transmission line is constructed with single pole steel structure between 80 and 140 feet tall.

The project was built to improve electric reliability and increase the capability of the existing transmission grid in and around Wheeler County.

A Certificate of Convenience and Necessity application was filed with the Public Utility Commission of Texas on May 19, 2014 and approved by the commission on August 1, 2014.
