Monument Tap-Byrd Tap 115 kV Transmission Line Project

The Monument Tap-Byrd Tap 115 kV transmission line project consists of approximately four miles of new transmission line between the Monument Substation located about 12 miles west of Hobbs, New Mexico and Byrd Tap about four miles south of Monument Substation.

The project helps improve reliability and meet growing electricity demand in Eddy and Lea Counties. It also creates additional capacity in the existing 115 kV system.

The Southwest Power Pool approved a Notice to Construct for the project in December, 2015. The project was placed in-service on November 20, 2018.
