Rolling Hills-Hastings 115 kV Transmission Line

The Rolling Hills-Hastings 115 kilovolt (kV) transmission line will improve electric reliability, including load serving capability in the Amarillo metro service area. The project consists of approximately six miles of new single-circuit 115 kV transmission line beginning at the new Rolling Hills Substation, located north of Amarillo, to the existing Hastings Substation, which is located northeast of the city, both in Potter County. The project also includes upgrading an existing transmission line from 69 kV to 115 kV between the East Plant Substation near Grand Street and N.E. Third Avenue to the Hastings Substation on Hastings Avenue at Broadway Drive. The upgraded line now terminates at the Rolling Hills Substation. The East Plant Substation has also been upgraded to 115 kV.

Certificate of Convenience and Necessity was approved for the Rolling Hills-Hastings line in December 2011. That portion of the line was placed into service on May 1, 2014.
