Dallam-Channing-Potter County 230 kV Transmission Line Upgrade

The Dallam-Channing-Potter County 115 kV transmission line was completed and placed in-service in 2012. The line was constructed to be 230 kV capable, but has been operating at 115 kV.

The 230 kV upgrade includes constructing a new XIT Substation, in Dalhart, Texas, and upgrading the Channing Substation, near Channing. Construction was completed in December, 2015.

The new line provides sustained reliable electric service to the growing load base of Dalhart, Texas, and the surrounding rural areas between Channing and the communities of Dalhart and Dumas, Texas. The line also improves transmission reliability and capacity to Dallam, Hartley and Moore counties.
